Trademarks are symbols used by businesses to ensure that their products are recognizable in the market. Because they are placed on goods or used in connection with the services offered, trademarks are an ideal marketing communication tool between the business and its customers – they inform consumers about the origin of the product or service. Therefore, it is important to obtain protection for our trademark, which allows us to stand out in the market.
To obtain trademark protection, it must be registered, preferably with the help of a professional representative – a patent attorney – at the patent office that has territorial jurisdiction. In the case of Poland, this will be the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland. If we want to obtain protection within the EU, the relevant office will be the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). International registration of designs can be obtained through the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
